Church of God in Alabama Revitalization Fund

Recommendation

We recommend that the undesignated money we received from Anderson in the sum of ___________

be put into a fund for Church Revitalization. The fund will be called AL COG Revitalization Fund.

• It is a fact that COG Congregations in Alabama are in need of support financially, physically and spiritually.

  • As a State we need to be supportive of our congregations, and find ways to help them to grow.
  • We want to build a sense of unity, connectivity, and vision for our Churches across Alabama.

Guidelines:

  1. None of these monies will be used to pay for buildings maintenance, upkeep, or improvements
  2. None of these monies will be used to pay utilities, insurance, mortgage, or other such bills.
  3. These monies are to be used for outreach, growth, training, and vision.
  4. Any approved and active (on next page) General Assembly AL COG congregation may seek a scholarship of funds up to $5,000 once every two years. The State Council may use scholarship funds for the enrichment of Pastors in the State.
  5. We encourage, if at all possible, congregations to repay this money at a future date if they are able so they may be used again by another congregation)
    1. All scholarships will be approved by the COG in Alabama State Council or by a committee of three appointed by the State Council. (An amount greater that $5,000 requires tull State Council approval)
    2. To receive funds you must submit an application which will state…
    1. Name of church, location, phone numbers, pastors name, contact persons
    2. The purpose for which the money is to used (training or outreach event)
    C. Explain the cost of the total project. The date for which the event or training will occur E. Visions and goals for the event
    1. A report is to be given after the training or event has concluded. It shall include a summary of the event with reflection on goals, and receipts for expenditures.
    2. If monies are not used for the stated purpose they will need to be returned in full immediately. (Not returned over 30 days 5% fee on total given, after 45 days 10% fee, after 60 days 20%)
I move the adoption of these recommendations to establish a AL COG Revitalization Fund.
