Mission Trips Changes Lives

I have just returned from a mission trip with a group from Fairview – The Grace Place to Ministerios Buena Vista in Guatemala.  Danny and Kim went to Guatemala 11 years ago in obedience to a call from God not sure what they would be doing or how long they would be staying there.  Now they have have approximately 170 children in the sponsorship program and feed approximately 200 children every day. They build houses for homeless, distribute food and medicine and serve their community in countless ways. We put in a swing set, monkey bars and climbing platform for the elementary school at Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa is a poor, rural community near the coast.  These kids have never seen seen a swing or any other playground equipment.  Imagine their surprise to come to school and see they have a play ground now.  At first they did not know what to do with swings.  One boy said, “That looks dangerous.” They did not know how to swing.  We had to show them how to swing, how to climb on monkey bars and the platform.  But once we showed them they learned fast and soon they were laughing and squeeling with joy.  I have never seen children so excited and having so much fun.  Ministerios Buena Vista touches the lives of the people in Guatemala in so many ways.  Going on a mission trip to serve Guatemala or any place is the best way to deepen and strengthen your faith.  Mission trips build unity and spiritual maturity while serving the least of these.  Danny and Kim will be glad to host a group from your church.  Message them from the Ministerios Buena Vista Facebook or web page.
