Teach us to pray

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1

The disciples recognized in Jesus, their teacher, that he had experience, expertise, and competency in prayer which they did not have.  They wanted to learn from him because they saw his effective prayer life.  Would someone say to you, “Teach me to pray’?  Is your prayer life evident to the others?  Do you want your congregation to be a people of prayer?  Then, you have to be a person of prayer?  You cannot lead someone to a place you have not been before.  If prayer is not important to you it will not be important to them.  In our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting are you leading your congregation to pray?  Are you encouraging them to pray by your example of a praying person?  We have 2 more weeks in our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting emphasis.  Show those around you what effective prayer can accomplish.
